The Best Places to Watch the Sunset in Miami, Florida - Get Lost With Jackie

I am a complete sucker for a sunset. Wherever I am, home or traveling, I am always on the look-out for what I refer to as “a sunset spot”. (Essentially, just a great place to watch the sun go down.) In a little under two years of living in Miami I developed a love and affection for sunsets in the Magic City. The palm trees, the yachts, the colors.. all recipes for perfect sunsets. I’m giving you an ‘in’ on my favorite places to watch the sunset in Miami.

  1. Sunset Harbour (1928 Sunset Harbour Dr, Miami Beach, FL 33139)

I mean, the name kind of gave it away. Here you can catch a beautiful sunset with a few palm trees, some yachts and a bit of the downtown Miami skyline.

This was one of my favorite sunsets to date – the sky turned perfect hues of pink and purple.

  1. Miami Beach marina

Your quintessential Miami sunset pictures will be captured here. Multi-million dollar yachts, the Port of Miami, the entire Downtown Miami skyline and a whoooooole bunch of palm trees make this marina a sunset lovers dream.

  1. Haulover Beach Park (10800 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33154)

On a weekday at sunset this park is practically deserted which is always a great setting for a good sunset (except on Tuesday’s when they have a food-truck meet-up which is definitely a ‘must-do’ for foodies). There are a few yachts and fishing boats docked here and tons of palm trees for perfect silhouettes in your sunset shots.

  1. The Rusty Pelican Restaurant in Key Biscayne (3201 Rickenbacker Causeway, Key Biscayne, FL 33149)

Not only does this restaurant serve up some of the most delicious seafood, sushi and dinner dishes in Miami (read my review of The Rusty Pelican restaurant here); it also serves as one of the best places to watch the sunset in Miami, hands down. Right on the water in Key Biscayne adjacent to the Port of Miami overlooking the downtown Miami skyline this restaurant’s outdoor seating is a perfect place to say goodbye to the sun for the day.

  1. South Pointe Park (1 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139)

At the very beginning of (or very end of – depending on your perspective) of South Beach is South Pointe Park. A gorgeous 17-acre public park in metropolitan Miami this park is a great place to go to sit to watch the sun set and the sky light up over downtown Miami.

  1. From a Drone or Helicopter

While it might not be practical or even attainable for everyone – there’s nothing more beautiful than aerial shots of Miami, especially during sunset. Don’t believe me? Check out these awesome aerials from fabulous Miami based photographers.
