When the Ritz-Carlton, Westchester invited me for a stay in January I knew I wanted to plan it around my 30th birthday. I decided to spend the night before my birthday at the Ritz-Carlton in Westchester as a solo-staycation – and I’m so glad I did! I spent the evening and night before my birthday being pampered and I couldn’t have planned a better way to leave my 20’s behind and enter my 30’s.
Located 30 minutes from both Greenwich and Manhattan the Ritz-Carlton, Westchester is the perfect luxury property to base yourself if you want to explore either or both cities. Or, in my case – it’s the perfect 45-minute getaway from Long Island for a stay-cation! The White Plains location makes it easy to explore both White Plains itself as well as the Hudson River Valley.
The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester property exudes the luxury and sophistication that the Ritz-Carlton name is known for. With modern, yet timeless design from the lobby to the common areas to the rooms.
Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply drinks and a quick bite – the Lobby Lounge is a cozy yet refined space and a great place to sit back and relax. A warm fireplace in the center of the lounge creates an intimate ambiance. If you’re looking for more of a formal dining experience you can opt to dine at BLT Steak, an on-site restaurant serving dinner.
The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester is also home to the largest destination spa in Westchester. I had the pleasure of indulging in a relaxing massage before my solo-stay and it was the perfect way to spend my last few hours in my 20’s. Michelle, my masseuse, was very attentive to my shoulders and lower back – two problem areas for me and she checked in on me a few times during my treatment to ensure that the pressure wasn’t too much.
After your spa treatment (or before!) you can check out the top floor pool at the Ritz-Carlton. I love indoor pools as they give you the opportunity to go for a dip – even if it’s only 12 degrees outside (as it was during my visit!).
The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester is home to five different types of overnight accommodations -three of which are suites and all of which are spacious and are all classic, stylish and comfortable. I had the extreme pleasure of enjoying a one-bedroom suite and I truly enjoyed every minute of it.

After my massage, I had plans to go out for dinner but I was so comfortable and relaxed that I opted to order room service and relax instead. It was, after all, a few hours before my birthday and I had every excuse in the world to indulge. And indulge, I did.

I had one of the best nights sleep that night and woke up on my birthday feeling refreshed, excited and ready for the next decade of my life. But first, I needed coffee. I decided to indulge, once more and ordered myself room service breakfast fit for a queen (equipped with balloons, of course).
My stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Westchester was one of the most relaxing 24 hours I’ve had in a while. I can’t imagine having rung in my 30’s in any other way!
Whether you’re traveling to Manhattan, Greenwich, White Plains or simply looking for a great, luxurious getaway – the Ritz-Carlton, Westchester is the perfect place to relax, unwind and recharge.
