I decided to extend my stay in Nice just an hour before I had to check out of the hotel I was staying at. I hopped on Google to search hotels in the area and stumbled upon Hotel la Perouse. To make things easy I called the hotel to check for availability and was greeted warmly by a young woman who was able to accommodate me for two nights – in a room with a sea view!
The façade of Hotel la Perouse
Hotel la Perouse is a four-star property built right into a steep mountain with amazing views of Nice and the Bay of Angels. The property is located just a stone’s throw away from the old city of Nice at the end of the Promenade des Anglais and is in the perfect location for walking to just about anywhere in the city.
The AMAZING view of Nice from the rooftop terrace.
Although the property was built in the early 1900’s the décor was surprisingly modern and sophisticated. I was, unfortunately, very ill with food poisoning from dinner the night before I checked into Hotel la Perouse and didn’t leave the room except for one short walk my first night until I checked out two days later. While being ill on vacation isn’t the most ideal situation to find yourself in, being stuck with the Hotel la Perouse’s views was hardly torture.
The view of the pool and the outdoor seating area of the restaurant when looking to the left off of my balcony.
The amazing sunset views over the Bay of Angels when looking to the right off of my balcony made for an awesome outdoor workspace.
Completely unfiltered, unedited beauty. The only thing that could tie the sunset views was the hues of blue from where the sea met the sky.
Due to my illness I, unfortunately, didn’t get to experience breakfast or the restaurant at Hotel la Perouse. I, also unfortunately, wasn’t able to utilize the pool or lounge area or the rooftop terrace equipped with not only beautiful views but also a jacuzzi. The staff was super attentive and provided not only four-star, but five-star service in trying to accommodate my illness. They even went out of their way to prepare bland rice and special teas that weren’t on the room service menu to assist me in trying to feel better.
I wasn’t able to jump in but I was surely able to envy the views and hues from the pool.
The pool, like the rest of the property, is built right into the mountainside.
The modern, yet cozy, décor in the restaurant.
The romantic outdoor seating of the restaurant.
The pathway leading through the restaurant to the pool area.
Even battling through what was probably the worst stomach illness and food poisoning I’ve ever experienced my stay at Hotel la Perouse was extremely pleasant. The décor, the amenities and most importantly the staff were all warm and welcoming. I can’t suggest Hotel la Perouse enough for your next stay in Nice, France.
