Driving up the driveway to The Samaya, in Seminyak, Bali gets more and more beautiful as you approach the lobby and just when you think it can’t get any better – you see the main pool that leads to the beach front. Located in the busy streets of Seminyak – the Samaya is tucked away and once you approach the property, you’re in a private oasis and you’re unaware of the property’s location.
Checking-in was a breeze and while I went through the typical, “scan the passport, leave a credit card for incidentals” process – I was adorned in a fresh-pink frangipani flower necklace and given the most delicious welcome drink I’ve ever tasted. It was so delicious that when I asked for the ingredients I was informed it’s a special-secret concoction!
My welcome drink and necklace (which I turned into a bracelet) in front of my villas private pool.
I was quickly escorted to my one bedroom private villa which even had its own private pool. All the accommodations at the Samaya are private villas – varying from one to three bedrooms. My “room” – it was more like an apartment – had a living space that flowed into the huge bedroom and both rooms as well as the bathroom opened to the courtyard and the private pool. My villa also came equipped with its own in-house Wi-Fi. Praise all things holy – it’s a traveling entrepreneurs dream.
The living space housed a coffee maker and mini bar and was replenished with fresh fruit and water bottles daily.
This bedroom though. * insert heart eye emoji *.
When your accommodations have a private pool, you take photos floating in it.
You also take photos hanging out by the pool, as well.
The style of the property is modern yet still holds accents of traditional Balinese design. The entire property is surrounded with lush, tropical flora and I was given instant inspiration when arriving at the Samaya. The property Wi-Fi was strong enough for me to bring my computer down to the main pool and enjoy the scenery while I tackled my to do list.
Seriously, who wouldn’t feel inspired here?!
When I said that the whole property was adorned in lush, tropical flora – I wasn’t joking. This was the view from the public bathroom’s sink.
In the evening the sun begins to set over the property and the décor along the property light up creating a romantic ambiance.
The extra amenities are what separates the Samaya from your average property. Within moments of posting up at one of the day beds by the main pool I was served ice water (without even having to order it!). I was also served fresh fruit, complimentary, poolside and the fruit was even chilled – the attention to detail at the Samaya are unparalleled. One of the spa employees approached while I relaxed by the pool and offered me a “teaser” 10-minute shoulder massage. I didn’t indulge at the spa but those 10 minutes leave me confident enough to vouch for the spa services at the Samaya, for sure.
Fresh fruit, served over ice? Don’t mind if I do.
Another amenity I fully enjoyed was that each guest is welcome to afternoon tea, served wherever they’d like. I opted to have my afternoon tea by the main pool and had it served with lemongrass tea (a must when visiting Bali!).
Dining at the Samaya was a true foodie’s dream. Whereas typical hotels and resorts stop serving breakfast at 10:30 or 11:00am (if you’re lucky) – the Samaya opted to let guests fully enjoy their vacation (and sleep in if they’d like to) with the option to have breakfast served – whenever and wherever.
I opted for breakfast served next to my villa pool one morning.
My second morning I indulged in banana-almond pancakes served at the beach-front restaurant, The Breeze.
Speaking of The Breeze, the on-property, beach front restaurant is easily one of the best places to watch the sun go down in Bali. It doesn’t hurt that The Breeze serves up a multitude of delicious dishes that include European, American, Asian and traditional Balinese options. The Breeze is open to the public, with reservations and if it’s a bit too pricey for the average diner, I would at least suggest enjoying one of their heavenly cocktails by the beach during sunset.
You can see my Samaya Punch (highly suggested) making a cameo in the corner during an epic #PinkHour from The Breeze.
I indulged in a lobster soup with a dumpling, sour cream dollop and a quail egg. *Swoon*
This was fresh grilled octopus salad tossed with tomatoes, cucumbers, a vinaigrette and crunchy onion topping.
All in all – the Samaya offers guests a unique experience in Bali – with the five-star hospitality one can expect when staying in Bali, outstanding dining options and modern decadence – The Samaya is your ultimate choice for a pampering experience in Bali.
